What is your buyers premium?

16.5% of hammer price (including GST)

Do the frames come with the pictures?

They do.

What order do you sell the pictures in?

We auction according to the lot order listed in the catalogue.

How fast is the auction?

Generally the auctioneer will go through approximately one lot per minute give or take depending on its popularity.

How do I know its an original?

Our auction catalogue indicates what medium the artwork is. If the work is not an original it will be listed so in the artwork’s description. All artworks authenticity is verified by one of our specialists.

How do I register for an auction?

You can register in person with one of our stuff members at the reception desk during viewing or before and during the auction. Once registered all bids are legally binding. You can access printable registration forms for download by clicking here.

How do I bid if I can’t make it?

We can supply you with an absentee bidders registration form or you can register to bid over the phone through one of our staff members. Alternatively, our auctions are streamed live through www.invaluable.com where you can hear and watch the auction live and participate in bidding through the website.

What happens to the works after if they don’t sell?

If a work doesn’t sell we encourage you to enquire after the sale, all sensible offers will be referred to the owners for consideration.

I’m a first time buyer where should I start?

GFL has always believed that it is just as easy to buy an artwork that you like that is a good investment, as it is to buy one that you like that is a bad investment. We recommend researching artists and secondary market values before purchasing and to remember that the auctioneer is there to take your bids and help you through the auction process. Our staff members are always pleased to assist with any questions you may have.

When can I collect my artwork?

Collection of works can only take place at the cessation of the evenings bidding. Payment is required before artworks are released.

How do I pay?

We accept cash payments, EFTPOS, credit card payments (includes a 1.5% surcharge), and direct deposit – details supplied with invoice.
