Taylor taught painting and drawing at the Perth Technical College (1951–1965) and the School of Architecture and Planning at the Western Australian Institute of Technology (1965–1967). In late 1967, he relocated to Northcliffe in the heart of the karri and jarrah forests of Southwest Western Australia. It was there he produced some of his most powerful images ... by blending traditional and experimental techniques.

 As a keen observer of nature, he documented its daily changes in a unique manner that wasn’t burdened with formality. His mastery of minimalism set him apart, earning him acclaim as the true genius of mid-century Western Australian art.
