William Brookman was one of the discoverers of bedrock gold in Boulder which led to the establishment of the Golden Mile in Kalgoorlie. Brookman House was his seaside home in Mandurah that eventually became the Peninsula Hotel. Brookman was elected Mayor of Perth and a member of the Legislative Council in 1900.
